Second in the Battle Network series, this game introduces the ability to run from (and avoid) battles, a limit of 5 of the same chip per folder, the * code, subchips, and style changes.This is a very simple speed game, you can learn the route just by watching runs of it.
How To Go FastEdit
SneakRun and Program Advances are the focus of the run. GutsShoot (Guard, DashAtk, GutsMan) is an easy to get PA early on, with Gater (Wind, Fan, GateMan) covering the later parts of the game. SneakRun will prevent all random encounters as long as Mega Man's level is above that area's threshold. Much of the run is spent ensuring this is so. The best way to get Guard * is to rank 6 Mettaurs. The best way to get DashAtk G is to Rank 8/9 Fishy. Rank is calculated based on several factors. We'll make a cross game section for that later.
The best style for speedrunning is Custom Style. You start fights with 7 chips, which is awesome. Just be careful not to overuse Guard * and Recovery chips during the run, or you may end up with Shield Style instead. As for the element of the style, the preferred elements are Aqua and Heat. Aqua is good for its fast charge and reasonable damage. Heat is good for its high damage and piercing. Wood has a range limitation, changing the strat for ThunderMan, and making the MagnetMan and FreezeMan fights harder. Elec is honestly the worst, as it's slow and low damage. The element is random and locked in at the start of the game.
